When the Scion xA and xB were released they immediately gained attention for their unique looks, but let’s be honest, neither car was particularly a beast in the performance department. And while customizing the xA and xB is still cool and allows for endless possibilities style-wise, speed junkies demand a Scion they can mold into their own image. Enter the tC.

As the first tC's hit the streets many thought it was going to be the replacement car of choice for the Toyota Celica which was recently retired from the Toyota line up. The tC featured the same unique look and style of the previous Scions but with an added performance-oriented theme and a potent 160HP engine for motivation. Scion wanted the tC to hit the scene in a big way so it should be no surprise that they would once again turn to Troy Sumitomo and his 5 Axis team to take the tC to the next level while maintaining the car's original spirit (i.e., no waterfall of Cristal sputtering away in the backseat).

Like their version of the xB, 5 Axis gave the tC the custom one-off wide body treatment. Only this time he placed fully adjustable carbon fiber diffusers within the front and rear bumpers. Since the tC is more about performance 5 Axis didn’t just make the car look fast, they made the car go fast by enlisting the help of a custom Greddy turbo kit complete with a phat intercooler that completely fills the front air dam of the custom front end. If the wide body and the giant intercooler weren’t enough to advertise that this car is an asphalt terror, the body was sprayed with bright Murcielago lime green.

Going fast and looking cool is all good but even speed enthusiasts need to party from time to time, so Troy addressed this issue by installing a flat screen TV that rises from the rear of the car as the trunk lid opens. I know what you’re thinking. “That’s been done!” While TV screens in tuner cars isn’t anything new, I assure you that this isn’t like anything you’ve ever seen before.

A simple push of a button and the motorized trunk lid opens slowly while up with it a giant 42” inch Pioneer plasma screen television rises from the trunk compartment! Yes, you read that correctly. Somehow 5 Axis managed to fit a full-size 42 inch TV in the back of a Scion tC. When the trunk lid is closed the TV is stored vertically and not horizontally! How they pulled this off I do not know but I imagine that if it were something that everyone did know and were easy to do then Troy and his team wouldn’t have done it. By now it's clear that the uber talented guys at 5 Axis are not about taking the easy way or following the beaten path; and happily for us Troy is now extending that philosophy to clothing with turn3's exciting licenced Scion apparel coming soon.
