turn3 Creative/Siphon Magazine Versa Hatchback Debuts at SEMA Show

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Today Nissan will showcase seven tuned-up versions of its new Versa hatchback at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.  turn3 Creative’s “Versa Cup” project highlights the performance potential of Nissan’s Versa. turn3 designs fashion-forward automotive apparel and collectible merchandise and is marking the debut of their Official Licensed Nissan products with their Versa.  Working with Siphon, a new Primedia publication focusing exclusively on the B-segment movement, turn3 has built a dual purpose Versa that performs on the street and on the track.

“Our customers have a true passion for cars and are enthusiasts in every sense of the word,” said Glenn Oyoung, President of turn3 Creative. “As the B-segment takes off we thought it was critical to show that the performance heritage of Nissan extends to all of its cars, including the Versa. And what better venue to do so than at SEMA?”

To prepare the Versa for the track, turn3 and Siphon first removed roughly 200 lbs. of weight.   The suspension was upgraded with a custom Super Street coil-over kit and Electronic Damping Force Controller (EDFC) by TEIN. Carbotech supplied race compound brake pads and shoes to give the Versa more stopping power.  A DC Sports exhaust was installed along with a custom intake by AEM. Putting the power to the ground and adding style and handling prowess are 17x7.5-inch Volk Racing CE28 forged wheels with Kumho tires.  15x7 inch lightweight wheels and Kumho’s Ecsta V710 race tires will be used at the track.

The turn3/Siphon Versa certainly has the appearance of a track star.  Aesthetic enhancements include an APR Performance carbon fiber front splitter and rear spoiler, custom front grille and lighting treatments by Five Axis, and NISMO-inspired race graphics by KTC Media Group and Spin Imaging.

The cabin of the Siphon Versa is perfect for wheel-to-wheel competition with Sparco racing seats, harnesses, steering wheel, pedals and shift knob.  In addition to gauges by Defi, the team outfitted the Versa with a full complement of vehicle dynamics equipment by Pioneer Electronics including forward and rear-facing cameras.   Rounding out the interior is a stout roll bar engineered by M1 Development.

The end result is a truly unique Versa that captures the essence of Nissan’s motorsports history and adds a modern tuner twist. Oyoung said, “This is turn3’s first Nissan project, and it’s certainly an honor to be working with a company that brings so much knowledge and an incredible performance heritage to the table.”
